Description:


The proposed plant employs air cycle process in which air is purified by molecular sieve, high/low temperature booster expansion turbine, is applied and argon is extracted through full rectification without hydrogen.

Following the elimination of dust and other mechanical impurities from process air in an air filter (AF), the process air enters air compressor where it is compressed to a certain pressure, and then it is pre-cooled in air cooling column. The water feeding of air cooling column is divided into two portions, the lower portion of cooling column uses recycled water which treated by water, while the upper portion uses cryogenic water which cooled by water cooling column (WC). Web demister is installed at the top of air cooling column to prevent carrying over moisture and to eliminate water drops in air.

The pre-cooled air enters two switched molecular sieve adsorbers (MS) in which air is cleared of such impurities as moisture, CO2, C2H2.

The purified processed air is divided into three streams, one of which flows as instrument air, the second stream enters recycle compressor for boosting and goes into main heat exchanger for cooling then to be withdrawn from the top of main heat exchanger, and then it is expanded through high-temperature expander to enter main heat exchanger for re-warming, and returns recycle compressor as recycle gas; the third stream goes through recycle compressor and to be boosted at boosting end of high/low temperature expander, then after cooling, it enters main heat exchanger to be cooled to a certain temperature and to be divided into two parts: one of which goes into low temperature expander for expansion, part of it returns heat exchanger as re-flowed gas and the rest enters the lower column to go into rectification. Another part keeps to be cooled and out of main heat exchanger to be throttled and enters upper column. After rectification at the upper column, the liquid oxygen at purity of 99.6% obtained at the bottom of upper column is delivered to client.

The liquid nitrogen is drawn from the top of upper column and then delivered into liquid nitrogen storage system.

The waste nitrogen gas obtained from a portion over the middle of upper column is rewarmed in subcooler and main heat exchanger and then fed out of cold box, most of which to meet the needs of regeneration gas of MS and the rest enters water cooling column as cold source of cooling water.

A certain quantity of argon fraction obtained from a portion at the middle of upper column is fed into crude argon column. The crude argon column is divided structurally into two sections. The liquid at the bottom of the second section of crude argon column is fed into the top of the first crude argon column as the back flow liquid by liquid pump. Argon fraction is rectified through crude argon column to obtain crude liquid argon, and then crude liquid argon liquefied through crude argon liquefier is fed into the middle portion of pure argon column for rectification. Then the product pure liquid argon is obtained from the bottom of column.
